Arvind Kejriwal to resign, key AAP meet to pick Delhi Chief Minister today

The suspense over the next Delhi chief minister is likely to end on Tuesday, with incumbent Arvind Kejriwal expected to resign at 4:30 pm following a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor. Kejriwal, who was granted bail in the liquor policy case last week, sent shockwaves through Delhi’s political circles after announcing on September 15 that he would resign in two days.
The process kickstarted on Monday as Kejriwal held one-on-one talks with AAP leaders for their feedback on who should be the next Chief Minister. A crucial meeting of AAP MLAs will be held at 11.30 am at Kejriwal’s residence to pick his successor.
Delhi ministers Atishi, Gopal Rai, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Kailash Gahlot are being seen as the frontrunners to become the next Delhi Chief Minister. Kejriwal has ruled out Manish Sisodia, also out on bail in the liquor policy case, taking over the top post.
